As we accumulate the funds to continue the mechanical work on the Hughes House, our planning turns to the garage and the area around it. We will begin restoring this structure to more varied functions by reevaluating its contents (everything will need to be moved out temporarily), drywalling the interior —complete with ceiling, and repairing the outside of the building itself. A parishioner has generously offered to pay for these improvements. Watch for this activity!
A consultant arborist will be visiting the property early in August to evaluate all the trees and give us a plan for work that needs to be done on them.
Plans go forward for removal of the tin roofed section on the back of the Hughes House.
These are things we can do without spending much money right now. There will be many opportunities in this phase for volunteer labor. Many hands will be needed. Watch for parish emails and announcements asking for helpers.
Almighty God, we give thanks for our community of faith that we know as St. John’s: for all that has passed and the many blessings we enjoy because of the sacrifices and gifts of so many that we do not know. We pray for your guidance as we endeavor to restore and renew the gifts of our buildings for the use of your children to your glory, and to prepare the way for all those who will come after us. In the name of Christ who was and is and is to come, Amen.

So far gifts received for the Restore Renew Rejoice campaign amount to $184,394.
We have spent to date $41,351 on the church and $125,715 on the Hughes House.
We still have the heating system to install in the church this spring which will cost
about $78,000. The last week in January the final $11,000 will be paid on the kitchen
and Sacristy renovation. The outside masonry and the work in the chapel will cost another
$29,000. Then we also will finish the roof on the Hughes House, approximately another $28,000.
We have spent only what money has been received.
We have a construction line of credit which
we may have to access if pledged monies coming
in lag a bit behind work we need to authorize.
Thanks be to God for the very generous gifts of so
many that are making this work possible

The Chapel will be done by the first
of February. The stone has all been
cleaned and the mortar and cracks
repaired.
The hall by the office has a new ceramic
tile floor. The walls have been painted and
the woodwork refinished.
.

The Sacristy has a new ceramic tile floor. The cabinets have been painted white. There are
new under cabinet lights, a new extra-deep sink with swing away faucet, and new counter tops.
The vestment cabinet has been enlarged and reconfigured with drawers for the vestments and
a shelf above for our sound equipment. The ceiling in the area between the chapel and the
chancel had to be replaced as well and the walls painted. It is bright and cheerful!
